Closing Bell: Losing DJIA 10,000 (ARST, JDSU, WSC, BRK.B, SCON, CERP)

The day was starting out solid after jobless claims took a real drop and got further away from last week’s 500,000 claims. The problem is that Midwest manufacturing data was weak and there are concerns that tomorrow’s Q2 GDP revision is going to be far worse than the prior report. Bond yields also continued to head south as investors are seeking safety in bonds and exiting stocks during the dog days of summer.

Here were the unofficial closing bell levels:

Dow Jones 9,985.81 -74.25 (-0.74%)
S&P 500 1,047.22 -8.11 (-0.77%)
Nasdaq 2,118.69 -22.85 (-1.07%)
